Delta has built an environment that rewards employees’ ingenuity, such as the Delta Innovation Award since 2008, which currently recognizes the Company’s most game-changing intellectual property (IP), new product, manufacturing practice, as well as business model or process every year.

In addition, Delta established Delta Research Center (DRC) in 2013 to respond to changing technological trends and to enhance its research and development capacity. DRC focuses on developing products and solutions in areas such as smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, information and communication technology, and life sciences. DRC adopts an open innovation approach and collaborates with the government, industry, academia, and research, aiming to create new opportunities that support industrial transformation and upgrading.

Delta Electronics recognized as Top 100 Global Innovator by Clarivate for the second consecutive year. (2022-2023) As of the end of 2022, the total number of patents approved for Delta exceeded 15,000 mainly in the United States, mainland China, Taiwan, Europe, of which 1,070 patents where approved in 2022 alone.

Research and Development on Global Scale

Headquartered in Taiwan, Delta commonly invests 8% to 9% of the group's annual sales revenue in R&D and has worldwide R&D facilities China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, the Americas, and Europe. In 2022, Delta has over 10,000 R&D engineers throughout the world with R&D activities coordinated on a global scale.

Delta's labs at Research Triangle Park in North Carolina, U.S.A., include the Delta Power Electronics Laboratory, which develops high-efficiency and high-density power conversion products, and the Delta Networks R&D Laboratory, which develops networking products. Delta's R&D team in Soest, Germany, focuses on developing key power supply products and technologies for various applications such as hybrid vehicles, super computers, high-end server storage, telecommunications, datacenters, and wind power converters.

Among Delta's R&D centers in China, Delta Power Electronics Center (DPEC) in Pudong, Shanghai was established in 1999 to aggressively develop advanced energy-saving technologies. We also have CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) accredited laboratories in Shanghai, Guangdong and Jiangsu, as well as post Ph.D. innovation stations in our R&D centers in Shanghai and Jiangsu.

Cultivation for R&D Talents

Delta has also made long-term investments in cultivating R&D expertise and innovation. Delta has joint R&D programs with U.S. universities such as MIT, Virginia Polytech, Case Western Reserve University, as well as Taiwan's National Cheng-Kung University, National Central University, and National Taiwan University, and other top schools in both Taiwan and China. In China, Delta has established the "Delta Power Electronics Science and Education Development Program" and the "Delta Scholar Program," which are involved in co-developing a variety of advanced energy-efficient products and technologies with ten top universities, including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shanghai University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Beijing Jiaotong University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Hefei University of Technology.

Delta Innovation Highlights

Our capability for innovative design is what sets us apart from the competition. With our core competence in power management, we are rapidly expanding into several related businesses such as: power systems for datacenters, cooling fans and thermal solutions, industrial automation systems, powertrain solutions and power electronics components for EVs/HEVs, high-end projection systems, LED lighting, and renewable energy. We are also actively pursuing development in new areas such as medium voltage drives (MVD), converters for wind turbines, and green buildings.

International Recognition

Delta's R&D integration ability, product innovation and design capabilities have won international recognition on numerous occasions. Since 2010, Delta has continuously received internationally recognized design awards including the iF, Reddot, CES Innovation, Computex Best Choice, and Taiwan Excellence awards. Our national honors for innovation include the Taiwan National Industry Innovation Award and the Thailand Prime Minister's Industry Award. These top awards recognize Delta's embrace of energy-saving, sustainability and value creation as core values as well as our innovation in system integration, design, channels, brand and service.

Delta Research Center

DRC was established in 2013. The initial phase of DRC, from 2013 to 2021, it primarily concentrated on research and development endeavors aimed at facilitating the digital transformation of Delta's development procedures, IT services, and manufacturing processes. As for the second phase, DRC 2.0, which commenced in 2022, its R&D efforts will center on creating next-next-generation and entirely new product lines with the potential to usher in a new era for Delta.

With the transformation of industries, the impact of information and communication technology, as well as hardware and software integration, on Delta and its customers has significantly increased. Delta Research Center is composed of experts from various fields, focusing on the research and development of cutting-edge technologies for Delta's next-next-generation products and the creation of innovative next-generation products. Smart Manufacturing
Adhering to the principle of "on-demand production and customized solutions for individual businesses," DRC has crafted a wide range of solutions and services covering machines, production lines, entire factories, and enterprises. Leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity, and software and hardware integration along with consultancy services, DRC facilitates the realization of a more flexible and agile manufacturing approach for factories.

Beyond serving the Delta Group, DRC has engaged in collaborations with entities in the display, semiconductor, and petrochemical industries, aiming to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs.

Life Science
Embracing the philosophy of "seeing the world from a grain of sand and implementing preventive measures in the early stages," DRC is committed to developing solutions that elevate precision medical care through the utilization of medical data derived from biomarkers. Platforms for genetic analysis, immunological analysis, and physiological signal testing have been systematically developed through collaborations with medical institutions for on-site validation. The team has consistently fortified its technologies to align with industry requirements.

In 2018, the DRC team's development, the "Precision Genes: Automated Nucleic Acid Testing Platform," was honored with the "Taiwan Innovation Award."
