Delta IABG Safety Lab Obtains UL Solutions Authorization on Testing AC Motor Drives & Servo Drives

Delta, a world-class provider of power management and industrial automation solutions, has obtained the authorization to conduct compliance testing according to UL 61800-5-1 for adjustable speed electrical power drive systems under the Client Test Data Program (CTDP). With the assistance of the global safety science leader UL Solutions, IABG’s Taoyuan-based safety lab received this approval, making Delta the first industrial automation brand in Taiwan to have the capability to test drives autonomously. This achievement showcases Delta’s firm commitment to pursuing high-quality products to meet customer demands and expectations.

As a CTDP-qualified laboratory, IABG’s well-trained personnel can leverage its laboratory's abundant resources and facilities to test AC motor drives and servo drives with UL 61800-5-1 standard as well as issue or prepare testing data reports to UL Solutions for further assessments and certification. By way of in-house testing, Delta can effectively manage samples, mass production, and shipment schedules according to its testing plans and procedures. This enhances not only Delta’s product development efficiency but also product competitiveness.

At the certification ceremony on Jan. 10th, Andy Liu, general manager of Delta’s IABG, stated, “To facilitate the development efficiency of the drives, Delta has launched a self-review project in the testing laboratory, including document control, purchasing procedures, calibration, corrective action, technical records, and personnel qualifications. Each phase must comply with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025. By receiving the qualification of UL61800-5-1 CTDP, Delta possesses independent testing capabilities, accelerating product certification to launch, and ensuring superior quality.”

Jonathan TH Chen, regional vice president of UL Solutions in Taiwan, stated “It is particularly difficult to either obtain the UL 61800-5-1 certification or become a CTDP-qualified laboratory. With its advanced technology and expertise in the industrial automation field, Delta has successfully received the UL 61800-5-1 CTDP laboratory qualification for drives from UL Solutions, signifying its practice and execution in the pursuit of high-quality products as a model for the industry.”
