New Delhi: Taiwan-based Delta Electronics aims to become a major provider of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in India, targeting a market share of 40 per cent within the next 3-5 years, Managing Director Niranjan Nayak told ETEnergyworld in an exclusive interview.

The $12.89 billion company offers a range of charging stations, including AC mini chargers, DC chargers, and fast chargers. It has so far installed over 8,000 EV chargers in India and shipped 1.5 million chargers globally.

The company has developed power conversion and thermal solutions for both onboard and offboard EV applications. It supplies essential components like AC-DC converters, onboard chargers, and traction motors in collaboration with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

To support its expansion plans, Delta Electronics announced an investment of $500 million in India in 2020 and focused on scaling up research and development activities. Since then, it has established a R&D Development Center and power lab in Bangalore, accommodating 350 engineers.

Nayak said the compamy is poised for growth with research and development centers in Taiwan, India, and Europe, as well as manufacturing facilities in Thailand and India.

The company has acquired 120 acres of land in KrishnaGiri, where it has built six plants. Two plants are already operational, and it plans to commission four plants by the end of the year. These plants will serve both domestic and export markets. This expansion focuses on EV charging solutions, telecom, data center, industry automation, and power supplies.

The company recently launched its green EV charging solution at ELECRAMA 2023. It has installed prototypes in select locations and plans to expand deployment in collaboration with charge point operators and system integrator partners.

Overall, with an emphasis on deploying high-power charging solutions up to 350 kilowatts for two-wheelers and electric buses, Delta Electronics aims to become the leading EV charging station provider in India.
